What To Expect
So you’ve met ‘the one’ and have made a lasting commitment to each other – it’s an exhilarating and exciting moment. It could be some time until you plan to tie the knot – so how do you maintain the momentum and celebrate this emotional milestone in your life?
A pre wedding or engagement photoshoot is an increasingly popular option for couples at the start of their marriage journey. They want to mark the occasion with a montage of informal shots to complement the grander formal occasion of the later wedding event for a comprehensive documentary of this important time in their lives.
Getting used to all the attention
If you are booking your pre weddng / engagement shoot as a stand alone it starts with a free initial telephone consultation to chat through what you want, and if you don’t know what you want I’ll be happy to help you with that too. Equally if it is part of one of the photography collections you have booked with me we will need to decide on the location of your photoshoot. Many couples choose a place that has special meaning for them both. Others choose a local place that is picturesque, has interesting architectural features or an ambience to to suit the quirks of their joint identity. It might be the local park, a beach or the place where they had their first date. Alternatively, if you’ve already got a wedding venue in mind you might like to use this as a dry run for your happy day.
When we meet I will establish a relaxed feel to the photoshoot, getting to know you further as a couple – who is cheeky and playful, who is shy and reserved. I’ll observe your individual brands of humour and the sometimes unconscious interactions between you for clues of what to showcase in the images. We will spend about two or three hours together on location, trying different things and using our location for inspiration.
Once the shoot is complete I may post a selection of online images for you to see on the blog page of my website and post some on Facebook for you to share with your friends if you wish. I’ll then create a password protected online gallery to review your pictures and you’ll receive a USB memory stick with around 30+ print resolution colour/black and white pictures.
People don’t normally consider having informal pictures taken of them by an experienced photographer – we normally settle for snaps taken by ourselves or our friends/family. You’ll soon see the difference and may be so impressed with the difference in quality that you’ll be back for my portrait services to capture other significant live events! It’s not just a picture-taking session, it’s a fun experience too.
